Helloo people, I'm backk. Today's topic of discussion is Neurogenesis. Neurogenesis is the process by which nervous system cells, which are neurons, are produced by neural stem cells. From the name, we can dissect that this is the case as - Neuro refers to anything about the nervous system, and - genesis is the origin or mode of formation of something. Neurogenesis happens primarily in the hippocampus which is a region of the brain responsible for memory and learning. It happens to make more neurons which would be used for learning, memory, and adapting to new information as well as reducing emotional stress by improving brain resilience and brain repair. Take this for example, The brain got tired of forgetting where it left the keys, so it started making new neurons. The old ones complained, but the new recruits didn’t remember why.
